Gospel Singer-Songwriter Joyce "Dottie" Rambo Dies

12th May 2008
We are sad to report that singer-songwriter Joyce "Dottie" Rambo was fatally injured in a bus accident in southwest Missouri early Sunday morning. The bus was on the way to a Mother's Day performance in North Richland Hills, Texas, and was traveling through high winds when it ran off the road and hit an embankment approximately two miles east of Mount Vernon on Interstate 44.

Seven other individuals were traveling with Dottie on the bus and received moderate to severe injuries, according to a highway patrol.

Rambo was a legend in the Gospel Music community. She wrote more than 2,500 published songs during her 74 years, including classics such as "He Looked Beyond My Fault and Saw My Need" and the 1982 Gospel Music Association Song of the Year, "We Shall Behold Him."

HeavenBound recorded one of her songs "I Call Him Lord", on their latest album, 'The Power Of The Cross'.

At this sad time, what a wonderful consolation it is to know that Dottie Rambo is face to face with her Savior right now, undoubtedly realizing that everything she wrote about Him is truer than she ever would have dared to imagine.

Please keep Dottie's family and friends in your prayers at this time, as well as those who sustained injuries in the accident.
